Charisse's 30 by 30

Welcome to my site. The point of this site is documenting the 30 things that I have said I am going to do before I am thirty. I will turn 30 on March 25, 2007! See the first post for the history of "30 by 30" and the entire list!

Nada...Nada...Nada...

Our travels are coming to an end. Todd and I have been in Granada for the past couple of days and tomorrow we leave for Madrid to come back to the States. It has been a great time!!! I do think after tomorrow´s long train ride and the flight on Sunday Todd and I will officially be out of stuff to talk about. We have met some interesting people along the way.

One of the most interesting is an older gentleman we met in Seville. We didn´t get his name but he grew up in Highland Park. Basically, his whole family were lawyers and he is an artist. He has lived all over the world and for many years felt guilt for not following in the family business. The thing he said he missed most about Dallas was Whataburger, funny to hear that in Seville. After we finished our conversation, Todd and I decided that this guy must have unfortunalty been the black sheep in his family.

Granada has been nice, the weather is a little cooler b-c it is at the base of the Sierra Nevada Mountain range. There is one main attraction here the Alahambra. It is a castle that the Moors built and then taken over by the Christians in the 16th century. The grounds for the Alahambra are beautiful and the palaces are very unique. Today we are actually going back to walk the gardens. Todd has taken tons of photos and I will try to post some when we get home.

Things I have learned in Spain:
1. I am the pickiest eater! i never realized this but I am not one to try new things.
2. Spain has some great hotels and the rooms are a lot larger than other places in Europe.
3. There is a new trend of mini skirts and black leggings for girls in Spain. I am hoping this doesn´t catch on in the US.
4. Leading up to the World Cup is the largest sporting story I have ever seen. It makes the weeks leading up to the Super Bowl look like a high school football game. Everywhere you go it is about the World Cup.

That is it from here! Hope everyone has a great and safe Memorial Day Weekend! We will be home Sunday night.
